What are we doing here?

Antiques!
You ever walk into an antique store, see something goofy, and walk out kind of wishing you'd bought that thing? I have no impulse control, so you can live vicariously through me! Each week (give or take), I'll share neat/silly antique finds from my excursions among the dusty, overcrowded, and delightful-smelling shelves of the Midwest.
Vidya Games!
It's 10 PM and you're absolutely shell shredding in the lava level of Super Mario 64. Tomorrow's a snow day and Mom said you can stay up one more hour. Life is good.

No, but for real, I like retro games. Slowly amassing a collection of N64 titles and hoping to expand into other consoles. I post some thoughts about these games and get a little too excited about my faves!

Horror!
Do you like spooks? Do you like pre-2000 spooks? You're in for a treat. In keeping with the retro theme this blog has fallen into, I review 90s, 80s, and 70s horror movies. However, I am not a cinematographer. I do not know film theory, I do not know what a producer actually does. So take my opinions with lots of salt. Also don't yell at me. The real horror? Disappointing a stranger on the internet.
Jams!
I was raised on Gen X Dad Rock. That means a lot of Metallica and Mötley Crüe, but it also means a lot of Creed and Staind. Y'all remember Staind?
While these bands hold a special place in my heart and I refuse to feel ashamed, I've branched out. I'll share bands and albums I've stumbled upon so you can enjoy hot, fresh, and delicious jams. And they won't all be post-grunge and 80s metal, promise.

Books!
What's better than cozying up in bed at the end of a long day and reading a good book by lamplight? Cozying up in bed at the end of a long day and reading a blog about it by the harsh light of a computer!

No specific genres or authors here, just classic book reviews of whatever I find in the used bookstore near my apartment :)
Other Stuff?
I've tucked a huge confession into the bottom of this page: I like garbage TV, mostly 90 Day Fiance. Maybe I'll get brave enough to write about it. I lose brain cells every episode though, fair warning.

I also love Dragula and Drag Race. Very rarely I pick up other forms of modern existence. Board games, podcasts? Let's see what we get into.

Who am I?

I'm Jenna, and I'm glad you're here. Despite this very professional photo of me, this blog is purely for fun. For my own self indulgence, but I want you to indulge with me!

By day, I'm a marketing copywriter, which means I sell my writing talents to make a living. To escape the existential implications of this and take back some control over my creative output, I kind of just threw everything I like into one digital space. Horror movies, antiques, retro video games, etc. This is my escape from the assumptions, obligations, and weights that come with writing, creative or professional.

In short, welcome to It's Just Jenna, and I hope you'll stick around for awhile.
